Before I begin this discussion, let me start by emphasizing this point— No supplement can ever be better than eating a healthy diet consisting of at least 5 servings of whole fruits and whole vegetables each and every day.
But take a look at the picture above.
That’s what the CDC recommends is the MINIMUM 5 servings of fruits and vegetables you need to eat each and every day for optimal health.
Are you eating that every day?
Based on the CDC research and my own personal experience, I’m going to guess your answer is a resounding, “NO.”
So what’s the big deal about eating enough fruits and vegetables? Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health says “a diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check.”

First of all, Western (or Modern) Medicine, is what most of us in America are familiar with. It’s what’s taught in mainstream medical schools across the United States.
Eastern Medicine includes Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic Medicine.
You may have heard of TCM—which includes acupuncture, moxa (heat therapy) and herbal remedies. You may not have heard of Ayurveda though. Ayurveda is to India what TCM is to China.
When it comes to these fields of study, one of the most controversial debates is the question of whether Eastern or Western Medicine is the superior method.
Western Medicine has been under attack for being “dangerous,” “unnecessary” and otherwise “unnatural.”
Eastern Medicine is under scrutiny because there truly isn’t a lot of medical research supporting it despite origins going back thousands of years.
There are pros and cons to both medicinal practices, but first, what makes the two so different?
𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆, 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲
The issue that many have with Western Medicine is that its science and philosophy purposely excludes anything that does not fit its paradigm of physical reductionism. It cannot, by its very definition, consider that humans have both physical and non-physical essences. Because of this, many people feel that mainstream medicine fails to evaluate them as a complete human being.
As result, many people are increasingly turning to holistic medicine which incorporates the ideals and teachings of Eastern Medicine.
Eastern Medicine takes an entirely different approach from Western Medicine, relying on the bond between mind, body, and spirit. Also known as “alternative medicine,” this practice can include a variety of spiritual activities such as meditation, acupuncture, and tai chi.
Rather than relying on pharmaceutical drugs, tests, and operations, Eastern Medicine relies on natural resources, like herbs, teas, and essential oils drawn from the extract of fruits, vegetables, and spices.
Another main difference between Western and Eastern Medicine is their approach to treatment.
Sure, at their core, both forms of medicine believe the best way to address disease is to avoid it altogether. But here in America you’ll rarely, if ever, have your doctor discuss food as medicine or homeopathic remedies for ailments.
If you were to ask your physician which natural herbs could help alleviate your anxiety and stress, they’ll likely stammer and give you a blank stare. You see, here in America doctors don’t typically discuss specifics about diet.
Because, believe it or not, only 1 in 5 medical schools in the United States even require their medical students to take a course in nutrition.(2)
Yep, you heard that right!
Most doctors educated in America haven’t taken classes on nutrition! Is it any wonder they refer to herbal medicine as “pseudoscience”?

This is where the use of nutritional herbal supplements and Eastern Medicine come into play. All of you probably agree that what we eat is of critical importance to our health and overall well-being.
Most you would probably also agree that over the last several decades, the American diet has been corrupted by the fast-food industry and prepackaged so-called “convenience foods.”
The American food industry was wise to our changing culture decades ago and thus began the big business of selling packaged processed food products and the creation of fast-food chains.
The unfortunate result— Obesity is on the rise. Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in America. Diabetes and kidney failure have been steadily increasing. High blood pressure and high cholesterol have become more the norm than the exception. Sugar consumption is at an all-time high.
Guess what food causes the greatest inflammation response in your body?
Yep, it’s sugar! Harvard Medical went so far as to say, “chronic inflammation is the root cause of all disease.”

Many people don't know how to cook; they only know how to heat things up. That means depending on packaged foods with high salt and sugar content. So teaching people about which foods are nutritious and how to prepare them can actually transform a patient's life. And beyond that, it might transform the health and lives of that patient's family.
What people eat can be medicine or poison. “Nutrition is one of the most powerful things you can change to reverse the effects of chronic disease,” says Dr. Brenda Rea, who helps run the family and preventive medicine residency program at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Studies have explored evidence that dietary changes can slow inflammation, for example, or make the body inhospitable to cancer cells.
In general, many holistic medicine physicians recommend a plant-based diet — particularly for people with diabetes or other inflammatory conditions.
The problem (as stated above)— Americans aren’t eating anywhere near the amount of vegetables and fruits needed for optimal nutrition and health.

Ok, so now we know the importance our diet has on our health. But what will you do with this information? Will you stop eating out and start shopping at your local farmer’s market? Will you stop buying frozen meals and packaged snacks? Will you start eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day?
Maybe, but probably not.
Look, I actually DO eat a very healthy diet but even for me it’s difficult to get the necessary amount of fruits and vegetables on my plate daily.
That’s why I take a very comprehensive daily regimen of nutritional supplements to not only help fulfill my nutritional needs but to also help naturally alleviate some of the health problems I’ve battled with in my past.
Problems such as high blood pressure, inflammation and arthritic joint pain, anxiety, and insomnia are the ailments I take Trust Organix
