Up To 25% Of The World's Most Commonly Used Pharmaceuticals Were Originally Derived From Plants
A real bone of contention with me since I entered the world of herbalism are the number of doctors and articles that make foolish statements that herbal remedies aren’t “science.” Many so-called “experts” regard herbal supplements as pseudoscience since the U.S. research into herbal treatments is lacking or, in many cases, nonexistent.
Lacking research does not scientifically prove herbal remedies don’t work. All it proves is that more research should be done. The problem is this— research costs money and most research studies are partially or entirely funded by Big Pharma. Now this may be just my opinion but from my vantage point, the pharmaceutical industry and their lobbyists are basically running the FDA these days. Please, for the sake of your health, don’t discount the biological importance and benefits of phytonutrients and antioxidants. Many of their benefits are indeed science-backed! And don’t for a minute excuse the power of plants for achieving and maintaining good, lasting health.
When I dumped processed foods and began a diet rich in fruits & vegetables (including nuts, seeds and legumes), whole grains, organic food sources and nutritional supplements, I lost 50 pounds, I had more energy, I looked and felt better, and most importantly, my overall health significantly improved. And keep in mind, I’m currently in the best shape of my adult life EVEN WITH spending 6 of the past 7 years on dialysis to stay alive until I finally received a kidney transplant 7 months ago.
Right now, we all have the opportunity to hit the reset button and start living and eating the right way. You’ll develop a better self image. Isn’t that what we are all striving for?
